What some of our users have been doing BERMUDA POLICE – Since Installation: - Hits on latent fingerprints since installation: 622 hits. - Hits on latent palmprints since installation: 204 hits. Including 6 phalanx hits which are the first cold hits on phalanx areas by an APIS. It is important to note that PrintQuest does not require a selection on Latent image quality as in other AFIS & APIS brands. Any Latent can be entered and searched - Beware of great Hit rates another brand may report, but, AFTER, selecting the best latents to input. Data is courtesy of Peter Downes – Bermuda Police Bermuda Police purchased the Full fingerprint solution, including PrintQuest AFIS-APIS (And Forensic Light Sources, RUVIS, Digi-PrintScope). Bermuda contracted SPEX Forensics to process the cards at factory, and with a total population of 60,000 people in the island, 8,000 finger cards and full hand cards were entered, checked by SPEX experts and delivered pre-loaded on the AFIS-APIS.PrintQuest extracts the minutiae points from the FULL hand all the way to finger tips and searches it without having to split it in smaller areas and with superior accuracy. One very interesting note about Bermuda Police statistics. There have been lots of vendor and police numbers attempting to estimate the additional number of hits obtained with palm processing, ranging from 20% to 30%. Well Bermuda police has been capturing palms for about the same period as rolled prints. Their verified hits show 32.2% HITS THANKS TO LATENT PALM PROCESSING, including 1.6% on finger phalanx areas as Bermuda Police search the entire handprint. SANTA MARIA POLICE DEPT – CA With a database of 20,000 finger cards and 9,000 palm cards, processed at factory, 113 latent finger hits and 15 latent palm hits were achieved right on delivery. (SPEX processed a small batch of latents too and provided a list of suggested hits).
EVANSVILLE PD – IN Evansville PD already got 107!!! latent fingerprint hits with just 2800 cards in the system.
SACRAMENTO COUNTY POLICE DEPT – CA (APIS only) With a preliminary database of 14,000 palm records (reached promptly with one PC input station only) and 67 latent palm HITS, with 96% of the of them in the NUMBER ONE Position. Sacramento is now enjoying a second input WorkStation to double their entry speed and is on the way to build a database larger than 150K people. Palm-only database creation is very simplified with PrintQuest as text and scanning are the only two required processing steps. No minutiae edition is needed on palm cards. The PrintQuest accurate auto-extraction of palm cards eliminates the need for manual edition present in other brands.
Det. Sgt. Joseph Britton With just 6000 cards processed through PrintQuest, Perth Amboy PD has gotten 30 cold hits including a few palm ones.

SOUTH PLAINFIELD POLICE DEPT. - NJ Schanna Woodel: One of my job tasks is to scan cards using PrintQuest. I feel that this system in regards to card entry is very “user-friendly”. The last system that we were using was very confusing for someone like me who is not trained in fingerprints. With this system, I can enter the text, then scan their prints and leave the comparison of the prints to the assigned detective. I also appreciate being listened to when I have a problem or a suggestion regarding the system. Det. Gene Bataille: The PrintQuest AFIS-APIS by SPEX has shown that its ability to accurately match latents, ten-prints and palms as well as the ease of use is second to no one.
FEDERAL site- US DHS AFIS: Server + 2 Workstations (AFIS and Imaging) with FBI IAFIS interface. The system is used daily to upload latents to the FBI database, receive lists of candidates and download ten print cards into the local PrintQuest database. The PrintQuest IAFIS integrated module was developed thanks to support from the FBI IAFIS technicians and doesn’t use third party software for uploading latents and downloading cards.

Haidian District: The rate of thefts done with vehicles robbery at intersections has dramatically increased and is committed by several organized groups. The group has 2-3 individuals, one keeps the driver busy, while two others open other doors or break the windows and press the glass (the plastic film holds it together). They usually push the glass in with their palms and many palms hits have been obtained: Latent to card, card to Latent AND latent palm to latent palm. This latter type proved the organized crime and linked various crime scenes.
